The WCA Planet Bike Cyclocross Series kicked off under overcast skys at Lapham Peak State Park on Sunday, October 4.  A cool breeze and grey skys made the day feel like cyclocross although rain held off keeping the course dry and fast.  The course featured the usual wide trail with two sets of barriers - one set on a slight uphill that everyone seemed to agree seemed really tall and another set after a 90 degree turn.  In addition, a tough double hill on the backside of the course had the strong riding and the nimble running.  In the elite races two familiar names rose to the top.  For the Elite Women Planet Bike's Kristin Wentworth once again dominated the race with Planet Bike teammate Kaitlin Antonneau in second.  Holly Klug (Courage) missed her start but used her frustration to pedal through the field into third place.  For the elite men it was James Lalonde (Planet Bike) scoring his first victory of the 2009 cyclocross season with Kevin Klug (Courage) dueling hard and taking second.
