National Cyclocross Championships Fund for UW Collegiate Racers

The Capitol Velo Club and Homegrown Cycling are pleased to announce that  $1 from each race entry at Badger Cross will be set aside to fund UW collegiate racers to attend Cyclocross Nationals.  UW students interested in attending Cyclocross Nationals and needing financial assistance will need to apply by November 12 to be considered.  Winners will be notified on or before November 19.   

To apply please send an email to madcrossorg-renee@yahoo.com with answers to the following questions:

1. What cyclocross races have you done or do you plan to do in 2007?
2. What UW school do you attend?  Are you a member of your school’s cycling team?
3. Tell us why you deserve to be chosen to receive this support.
4. What level of financial support do you need (maximum $200) and will you be able to attend event without financial support
   Please also include your name, address, email address, and year in school.

Capitol Velo Club and Homegrown Cycling will choose the winners.  The criteria for selecting the recipients of the funds will include:

• Demonstrated commitment to and interest in racing cyclocross
• Overall persuasiveness of application
• Need
• Preference will be given to members of the UW-Madison cycling team but applications from other UW students are welcome.

Wisconsin has a strong history of success in cyclocross with both national and world champions hailing from our state.  In 2003 UW Madison’s Megan Monroe captured the Women’s Collegiate Championship.  With cyclocross nationals just down the road in Kansas City the hope is to help create a strong presence for Wisconsin at this premiere event.
