Wisconsin Cross
gets started!!
It was a scorching day of racing
at WCA Cyclocross Series Race #1, Moe’s Burrito Cross brought to us by
CZ Velo Club. Not only were the temperatures scorching but so was
the racing!
Moe's Burrito Cross saw record numbers
of racers in attendance on a hot, summer-like day at Lapham Peak State Park.
It didn’t feel like cross weather with temps hitting 80 but the unseasonally
warm weather brought out the racers with over 45 C Men, expanded women's
categories and an Elite field triple the size of last year.
Moe’s Burrito Cross Top Ten
10. Burrito coupons . . . mmm good.
9. 45+ C Men – we’re off to a great start to the season!
8. All new B Women’s category
7. All the shiny new cross bikes being raced for the first time
6. Singlespeeders rockin’ the course
5. The 2 Sandhill cranes standing next to the course during the A/B Women’s
race and 30+ race (no I was not hallucinating)
4. Spectators yelling encouragement, ringing bells and generally having a good
time
3. Addition of “run-up” for advanced classes – that was fun (note sarcasm)!
2. Tristan and Matt bunnyhopping the barriers – always a crowd pleaser
1. Huge elite men’s field - triple the size of last year
